A short drive from the house will take you through the heart of the bastide country to the Aveyron Valley going through the medievel cities of Castelnau de Montmiral, Puycelci, Cordes sur Ciel, Penne du Tarn, Saint Antonin Noble Val and Bruniquel.
Vestiges of the Tarn's golden age, from the beginning of the second millennium can be seen in its walled towns and bastides, usually nestling on top of rocky spurs.
Villages of light and shadow with little winding streets await the tourist prepared to spend some time exploring and to venture off the beaten track. These colourful towns shaded in pastel colours are cloaked in mist at sunrise and flamboyant at sunset....
The spectacular Millau Viaduct, built to carry the A75 motorway 2.5kms over the Tarn Valley to the west of Millau, is 23 metres higher than the Eiffel Tower. The world famous bridge is only an hour and a half drive from Rousset.
